Project
Welcome
Cyclevit is a project funded by Fondazione Cariplo whose main aim is to propose and develop a process to outline an innovative and sustainable way for the recovery and the reuse of biomass, under the concept of circular economy, for the production of high value added products such as vitrimers composites. The latter are polymers that at high temperatures can flow like viscoelastic fluids, and at low temperatures behave like classical thermoset polymers. Thanks to that, vitrimerscan be repaired, reshaped, and reprocessed by extrusion, injection, or compression molding and 3D printing, decreasing significantly the cost and environmental impact of the value chain.
Consortium
The Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore is the coordinator of the project - 2021 - 0757 Cyclevit.

News and Events
Researchers from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore visited the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia on February 14, 2023, for the biannual meeting of Cyclevit members. This was the first in person meeting of the year where both groups presented their advancements in cellulose and lignin extraction from wheat straw and the subsequent incorporation of these polymers into the vitrimers derived from vegetable oils.
Kick-off meeting
June 29, 2022
The Cyclevit team had the kick-off meeting past June 29 in Piacenza, Italy. The members met for the first time in person and shared a day in which they planed and organized future work and visited the labs of the Dipartimento di scienze e tecnologie alimentari per una filiera agro-alimentare sostenibile at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.
